Chairman

Trevor Rowe is Executive Chairman of Rothschild Australia Limited, and Chairman of GoTalk Limited, Queensland Investment Corporation, Queensland BioCapital Fund, Enhance Management Pty Limited, RSPCA Queensland Capital Campaign, BrisConnections, and United Group Limited - and he served as the Chancellor of the Bond University Council from 2003 to 2009, and is currently Bond University's Chairman of the Board of Trustees.

Mr Rowe is also a director of ASX Limited and a director of Resimac Limited. He is a Guardian of the Australian Government’s Future Fund of Australia, a member of the Foreign Affairs Council, and a member of the Royal Flying Doctor Service – Friends Committee.

Mr Rowe has more than 30 years experience in the investment banking and funds management industry, and has held senior positions in Australia, the United States and Asia.

Vern Wills is Chairman of Operating Entities for Enhance Group which includes Enhance Management Pty Ltd, a leading market research firm, Enhance Corporate, a corporate advisory company; Enhance Capital, a private investment company; and Enhance Media & Communications.

Currently Mr Wills is also Chairman of the ASX listed company Dark Blue Sea Limited of which he has been a director since October 2002, Chairman of the Australian International Training and Management Group, Director of GoTalk Ltd, Director of Eumundi Group Ltd, Director of the Greg Norman Golf Foundation, Director of Careers Australia Group and was Deputy Chair of the Queensland Government’s Major Sports Facilities Authority until his resignation in December 2007.

Darryl Somerville
Director

Darryl Somerville is the Chairman of the Brisbane Broncos Ltd and he was formerly the Chairman of Brisbane based developer Devine Ltd. He previously completed his role as Chairman of the Queensland Government’s Energy Competition Committee, which oversaw the introduction of Full Retail Contestability for energy in the state.

Mr Somerville spent 23 years with PricewaterhouseCoopers in Brisbane, including more than 19 years as a partner. His clients ranged from privately owned companies through to multinationals in the manufacturing, mining, energy and resources and retailing industries. He was a member of the company’s National Board of Partners.

Mr Somerville served a three year term as a National Director of the Institute of Chartered Accountants from 2000 to 2003. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Australia and a Fellow of the Australian Society of Certified Practising Accountants.

Mr Somerville is the Chairman of Careers Australia Group’s Compliance, Audit and Risk Management Committee.

Patrick Grier

Patrick Grier is one of Australia’s leading health industry experts having worked in the industry for more than 20 years. He is also one of the country’s most respected business figures following his successful time as Managing Director of Ramsay Health Care.

Mr Grier joined Ramsay Health Care in 1988 and became the company’s Chief Executive in 1994. He resigned as the company’s Managing Director in 2008 after serving a decade in the role.

During his two decades with the company, Mr Grier oversaw the successful float of Ramsay Health Care on the Australian Stock Exchange in 1997 and growth in annual revenues from approximately $200 million to more than $2 billion.

Mr Grier also oversaw a series of successful acquisitions which helped Ramsay Health Care grow to become Australia’s largest private hospital operator.

Mr Grier was Chairman of the Australian Private Hospitals Association, and was on the Board for 12 years. He also sits on a number of private health industry committees.

Mr Grier is the Chairman of Careers Australia Group’s Healthcare and Marketing Committee.

Patrick McKendry
Chief Executive Officer

Patrick McKendry is the CEO of Careers Australia. Prior to commencing in his current role, Patrick had been an industry advocate in major policy issues such as vocational education and training and employment programs, labour market reform, trade practice and competition policy for various industry bodies.

From 2006 to 2009, Patrick was Chairman of TVET Australia Pty Ltd. The owners of TVET Australia are the State, Territory and Commonwealth Ministers for Vocational and Technical Education (VTE). TVET's primary role is to provide support services for the key stakeholders in Australia's VTE system.

In 2006 the Commonwealth Government appointed Mr McKendry as Chairman of the National Quality Council (NQC). The NQC brings together industry, employee, government and practitioner representatives to oversee and support the current and future quality of vocational and technical education across Australia. Patrick's term as Chair of the NQC finished at the end of 2009.

Mr McKendry was also appointed as Director of the Workers' Compensation Regulatory Authority (Q-Comp) Board by the Queensland Government in 2006. He also serves as Chairman of the Finance and Audit Committee for this Board.

Walter Gilmore
Chief Executive – Careers Australia Healthcare Services

Walter Gilmore has held Chief Executive Officer and Chief Financial Officer roles in both the private and public sector in Australia and overseas.

Prior to joining Careers Australia, Mr Gilmore worked in Indonesia as the Chief Executive Officer of Siloam Hospital Group. During this time he led the creation of a major international healthcare group, and implemented international best practices across the group’s operations.

Mr Gilmore holds a Bachelor of Business Degree, a Post Graduate diploma in Health Sciences, and is an experienced Certified Practicing Accountant (CPA) with more than 20 years working in the health and education sectors.

Paul Scaysbrook

– Careers Australia Institute of Training

Paul Scaysbrook has more than 20 years experience in the vocational education and training sector with both private and public training providers throughout Australia.

Mr Scaysbrook has held senior management positions at the Brisbane North Institute of TAFE, where he was responsible for the delivery of education and training for the faculty of Construction, Mining, Manufacturing and Transport. Mr Scaysbrook was highly successful and instrumental in revitalising the apprenticeship system for industries across the Brisbane North Region.

Mr Scaysbrook holds an MBA along with a Graduate Diploma of Project Management.

Steven Platz
Chief Financial Officer

Steven Platz has more than 30 years experience in providing accounting and strategic advice in public practice, both as a consultant and as an in-house adviser to large international companies.

Mr Platz was a partner in a Chartered Accountancy practice, and was a director of Value Focused Consulting – a company that provided education and business solutions such as activity-based costing, economic value adding and strategic planning to corporations throughout Australia.

Mr Platz holds a Bachelor of Business Degree from the Queensland Institute of Technology and is a Chartered Accountant.

Keomany Khounthavong
General Manager
– Quality

Keomany Khounthavong has more than a decade of experience in the vocational education and training sector. She has a track record of demonstrated operational and strategic achievement in administering apprenticeships and traineeships in accordance with legislative provisions and the national training framework.

Ms Khounthavong served as the Manager of Audit Services with the Queensland Department of Education Training and the Arts, and has played an integral role in implementing the revised Australian Quality Training Framework 2007 and regulating government contracts in Queensland.

Ms Khounthavong holds a Master in Business Communication from the Queensland University of Technology and is a qualified Lead Auditor.
