Trade Support Loans

Trade Support Loans provide financial support to eligible apprentices to assist them with the costs of living and learning while undertaking an apprenticeship.

The program offers loans to apprentices in priority occupations which are paid in instalments totalling up to $20,000 over four years. Repayments are collected through the tax system similar to the Higher Education Loan Payment scheme once a minimum income is reached. In 2014/15 the minimum income threshold is $53,345.

As an incentive to complete training, apprentices who finish will be eligible for a 20% discount on the loan.

To find out if you’re eligible or for more information on Trade Support Loans visit the Australian Apprenticeships website or call the Australian Apprenticeships Centre on 13 38 73.
