March 2009 | Careers Australia has commenced their inaugural class of international trade based students undertaking a Certificate III in Automotive Mechanical Technology and Diploma of Automotive Technology. Students undertaking trade programs will experience first class training as well as being supported through industry placement as part of their program.
Further diversification of product options for international students since CRICOS approval three months ago in Automotive, Engineering and Building & Construction have already seen student numbers reach near capacity. During this time, over 1000 letters of offer have been distributed through international agents that work closely with the Careers Australia International Programs Unit to recruit students.
As part of orientation students have experienced Australian culture, job preparation training, visited Careers Australia's Training Centres and had their first exposure to a typical Australian workshop. They even went on a tour of the Gabba which was a big hit with the students that are mostly from India, Nepal and Sri Lanka and are avid fans of cricket.
The first intake for Careers Australia's Engineering and Building & Construction courses for International students will commence in April.

“I wanted to have a career change; I liked the class schedule, which is 2 ½ days a week. That meant I could spend time with my family and have a job for the rest of the week. I also like the environment for learning, being that it was an easier transition from being a mother to an adult student.”
“The Diploma of Business helped me gain the knowledge I needed to achieve my personal best and to be successful. I gained acceptance into the University of my choice thanks to Careers Australia.”
