March 2009 | Careers Australia Institute of Training (CAIT) has opened a new inner-city training centre in Bowen Hills.
This centre has been built for Automotive, Electrical and Renewable Energy training. The centre will promote, deliver and support excellence and innovation in vocational training for the energy sector. It will also house Careers Australia's first intake of international trade students who started the Certificate III in Automotive Mechanical Technology program earlier this week.
The centre will bring new perspectives to the energy sector through student-industry interaction which will enable for greater awareness of and planning for future industry challenges.
The Centre has already recieved praises from industry bodies and key industry members and it featured in a front page article in the National Electrical and Communications Association (NECA) February newsletter. NECA are very excited about CAIT's flexible learning options and high quality standards.
Some of the benefits of having a custom built training centre for the energy sector include:
- A greater number of apprentices in the renewable energy sector.
- An enhanced presence of electrical energy and renewable energy training across the sector.
- Increased interaction between Careers Australia and the energy sector.
The Brisbane Trades Training Centre is located less than 4km from the CBD and less than 500m from the Bowen Hills Train Station, meaning that is is central and accessable.
Careers Australia expects that over 500 students will use the Centre annually, bolstering the groups overall student numbers to over 4,500. The Centre will strengthen Careers Australia's position as the largest private provider of trades and technical training in Australia.

“I wanted to have a career change; I liked the class schedule, which is 2 ½ days a week. That meant I could spend time with my family and have a job for the rest of the week. I also like the environment for learning, being that it was an easier transition from being a mother to an adult student.”
“The Diploma of Business helped me gain the knowledge I needed to achieve my personal best and to be successful. I gained acceptance into the University of my choice thanks to Careers Australia.”
