On Friday 17 July 2009 Careers Australia celebrated the inaugural graduation of International English language students at the new Brisbane Training Centre in Fortitude Valley. The event was attended by a number of special guests including:
- Patrick McKendry, Chief Executive Officer of Careers Australia Group
- Ranjit Singh, President of the Brisbane Sikh Temple
- Michael Maat, Senior Sergeant from Queensland Police Cultural Advisory Unit
All of the current International English language students will be moving into Automotive, Engineering, Construction and Nursing programs which are areas that the Australian Government recognises as being current skills shortage areas.
Careers Australia opened the Brisbane Training Centre early in 2009 to cater for domestic and international English language and Nursing students. Careers Australia also delivers the Adult Migrant English Program from this location which is a program that provides new migrants and refugees with free English tuition. The first six months of operation at the Brisbane Training Centre have been very prosperous and Careers Australia have already begun renovations - moving their corporate offices next door to allow for more class rooms and a larger student common area on the ground floor.
In the same period the company has also opened new training centres in Bowen Hills, Gladstone and Townsville making eleven training centres throughout Queensland and South Australia. In the coming six months Careers Australia plans to open a new training centre in Adelaide, as well as establishing training centres in new interstate markets.
We are very excited about the opportunity that we have to provide quality vocational education and training to enrich the lives of our students and communities throughout the country.

“I wanted to have a career change; I liked the class schedule, which is 2 ½ days a week. That meant I could spend time with my family and have a job for the rest of the week. I also like the environment for learning, being that it was an easier transition from being a mother to an adult student.”
“The Diploma of Business helped me gain the knowledge I needed to achieve my personal best and to be successful. I gained acceptance into the University of my choice thanks to Careers Australia.”
